Service Area Business
A business that travels to customers rather than serving them at a storefront, listed by the areas it covers.
A Service Area Business, or SAB, is one that goes to its customers instead of receiving them at a fixed location, such as a plumber, electrician, mobile detailer, or house cleaner. On Google, an SAB can hide its street address and instead define the cities, zip codes, or regions it serves.
This distinction changes how the profile is set up and how it ranks. Because there is no storefront to visit, Google leans on your listed service areas and other prominence signals. Setting realistic service areas matters, since claiming too broad a territory can dilute relevance for the places you actually work.
For owners of mobile or on-site services, configuring the profile as a service-area business, with accurate coverage and a clear service list, is essential to showing up when nearby customers search for the work you do.
