GBP Verification

The process of proving you own or manage a business before Google lets you control its profile.

GBP verification is the step where Google confirms you legitimately represent a business before granting you control of its Business Profile. Verification can happen by postcard mailed to your address, phone, email, video call, or live video of your premises, depending on the business type and Google policy at the time.

This step exists to protect businesses and searchers from fraud, since an unverified listing cannot be fully managed and may show limited information. Until you verify, you generally cannot edit key details, respond to reviews, or unlock the full set of profile features.

For owners, completing verification is the gateway to everything else. It can occasionally be slow or require a second attempt, but a verified profile is the prerequisite for managing your presence and competing in local search.
