Local Pack

The block of three local business listings with a map that Google shows at the top of local search results.

The Local Pack is the group of three business listings, shown alongside a map, that appears near the top of Google when someone searches for a local service like "plumber near me" or "coffee shop." It is the most valuable real estate in local search because it sits above the traditional blue-link results and pulls the majority of clicks and calls.

Listings in the Local Pack come from Google Business Profiles, not websites. Google chooses which three to show based on relevance, distance, and prominence, meaning how well your profile matches the search, how close you are to the searcher, and how established and trusted your business appears through reviews, citations, and activity.

For most local businesses, earning a spot in the Local Pack drives more phone calls and visits than any other single ranking win. Everything from keeping your profile complete to gathering fresh reviews is ultimately aimed at getting and holding one of those three slots.
